The County Commissioners
Two bridges were contracted so over the Iroquois ditch in Union Tp. One by the Pan American, Bridge Co., of Newcastle, Ind., at $769, the other by the Attica Bridge Co., at $1,248. The report of the engineer and viewers on the proposed system of stone roads in Marion township and Rensselaer, was presented and approved, and an j election ordered held on April 28th.
In the matter of the three miles in Marion, Jordan and Carpenter, the report of the election was approved, and the Auditor was authorized to advertise for bids, for the contract to be let on April 15th. A ditch petitioned for in Walker tp. by Geo. Ketch mark and others ordered constructed and D. W. Waymire was appointed construe tion commissioner for the ditch. The Amos Davisson ditch was continued to the April term for objections. A liquor license was granted to Aaron Timmons, of Tefft. A petition was presented for the establishment’oftwo miles of new road and the vacation of one mile of present road in Newton township. The plan is to straighten the road which runs from Rensselaer, past the poor farm. Several parties object to the proposed road, but viewers were appointed being W. V. Porter, Charles Hensler, and J. W. Hudson. They are to make their view on March 19.
The contract for the county supplies for quarter ending May 31st was awarded to the G. E. Murray Company. Fees for quarter ending Feb., 28th were reported as follows. Auditor, $102.60. Recorder $749.15. Sheriffs2o6.23. Clerk $315.13. A petition to enlarge the O’Meara ditch was continued to the April term for objections. The official bond of S. R. Nichols as con ity treasurer was approved. It is in the sum of $160,000 and the bondsmen are J. T. Randle, Addison Parkisou, J. M. Wasson, E. L. Hollingsworth. Henry O. Harris and Elbert Harris. ; A petition was filed asking for the improvemeut of a road on the Jasper and Newton county lire, lying west of Keener township and running down to the Kankakee river. The auditor is ordered to arrange a joint.Commissioners’ session with the Newton county commissioners to consider the matter,
