Indiana Is Prosperous.
The controller of the cnrrenc.v finds that prosperity exists in the most abundant measure throughout the state of Indiana. There has! been an enormous increase in the 1 de|>osits of national banks dur-1 ing the last year. The greatest prosjierily is in the rural districts of 1 hectare. Farmers have made! money from good crops and high | prices for stock and have swilled the bank deposits. In Indianapolis there has been a slight falling off of deposits during the year, but iu the state at large the deposits have in creased Lieyond all expectations. Tnis is accounted for in part by the fact that the farmers, after a series of prosperous years, have been able to pay uff their mortgages and are putting their money in banks. According to a statement just
made public by the controller of the currency the total resources of national banks in Indiana at the close of January, this year, were $167,457,647.45, as against $143. 662.856.46 one year previous, again during the twelve month of $23,701,760.99.
