THE DEATH RECORD.
The “Grim Reaper” continues his sad in this vicinity,' and last, Saturday, morning there were the earthly remains of not less than four people awaiting sepulture, in Rensselaer and its near vicinity. The death of Grandmother Lovica Hopkins has been already related. Still’ another of onr old mothers has also gone to her rest. It is Mrs. Mary McColly, widow of Clark MeColly, and a very old residentjof this county. She died at her home in Union township, in , the Alter neighborhood, about 11.30 Friday night, of lung fever, after a sickness ofonly four days. Her age was 82 years, 11 months and 12 days. Her maiden name was Hance, and her birth place, Marion county Ohio. She was married at the age of 18 to Clark McColly, of Clark county, Ohio. Previous’to coming to Jasper cdunty, they lived in Grant county, this state for many years. She joined the Baptist chur ch at the age of 15 years, and remained a faithful Chrlstain until he/ death. . Her husband died a number of years ago, but eight of her 13 children survive her. Namely, John F. McColly, the weHTkpbwn merchant and city councilmen, of our city, James and George of Union, Ben. D. and Cnarles A. of Chicago Heights, and Mrs. Harriett E. Alter, of Union Mrs. Abigail Hopkins, of Thayer, and Mrs. Nancy Payne, of Monticello. Another son. Willis, died in Rens selaer a number of years ago, as a result of an accidental pistol wound while he was employed as a night watch in our c'ty. The funeral was held St tfie residence, Sunday, at 11 a. in., by her former pastor Rev. W. R Nowels, of Flora. Interment being made here in Weston cemetery, about two o’clock p. m.
