Frank Ross Makes A Big Deal.

I Frank A. Ross, of our city is one of the ablest and most highly reputed mining experts in the country, and whenever his health permits, always has more offers of important jobs in that line than he can attend to. He spent several months in Montana last fall examining some big mihes out there, and has just been out again. At the commission of [some Chicago capitalists he has made an exhaustive examination of the Jay Gould mines, located 40 miles from Helena, Mont., and on the strenght of his report, the Chicago parties have bought the mines for $350j000. It was a condition of the sale that Mr. Ross should go out and take complete charge of the mines until they are put in full working order. The mines have already produced $1,800,000 worth of ore. The name of the Chicago company which has bought them is The Standard Ore Company. It is understood that our townsman is making a great big thing for his past and future work in this matter, just as he deserves to, but with characteristic modesty, he.declines to make any statement on that head. He arrived home from Montana and Chicago on the early train, last Tuesday, morning and just as soon as he could pack his grip and attend to some business affairs, he left again, on the forenoon train, and will go direct to the mines above mentioned. He also expects, in the same company's employ, to visit other mines in Idaho, Nevada and hew Mexico. He will be away all summer and perhaps fully a year.
