Death of an Old Barkley Resident.
John Switzer, an old and much respected resident of Barkley township, died Friday, Feb. 23rd, at 11 o'clock a. in. at his home about two miles northeast of Aix, and in the same house which has been his home for the past 37 years. He was born and raised in Ohio, but lived in White county, this state for some years, previous talocating in Jasper county. His age was 83 years, four months and 14 days. The cause of his death was the general failure of old age, and he had been in failing health for about two years. He leaves a widow, who is a sister of Holdredge and Ezra L. Clark of our city, and also four children. Namely: Selina, Bowman and Ezra Switzer, all of Barkley, and Mrs. Ula Fisher, of Danville, 111. Five other children born to them are dead. The funeral was held last Sunday, at Brushwood U. B. church, at 10 o’clock a. m., by the pastor, Rev. Blackburn. Interment being made here in Weston cemetery, about one p. m.
