Surprised Mrs. Cleveland.

Sunday, Feb. 18th, was the 67th birthday of Mrs. A. W. Cleveland, and the ]23rd birthday of Mr. Charles Smith, and the occasion was celebrated by a surprise party on the former at which the latter was one of the guests, and which was participated in by some thirty old friends. The usual subterfuges were successfully planned to throw the surprised ofl the track, and then the guests came rolling in with bassets laden with all those real good things women save up their talents to prepare on such occasions. Mirth and good feeling, with Mrs. Abbie Roberts as toast mistress, prevailed. Mrs. Cleveland presented Mr. Smith with a handsome boquet of carna tians and roses. It was an exceedingly pie isant event.
