Keister Restaurant Attached
James A. Keister, Vho held a S3OO mortgage on the Short Order Restaurant, sold the same at auction this Thursday morning. Russ Harmon acted as auctioneer, and Henry Bnow, of Barkley tp. and “Sip” Haskell, of Reminton, were the only bidders. Snow finally bid it in for $lO5, and paid the same to Keister. He then paid S3O for a month’s rent, and was getting ready to do business, when Sheriff O’Connor made his appearance and attached the fixtures and stock for a debt of $135 Keister owed to J. J. Eiglesbach. O’Connor at onee took charge and closed the restaurant. James’A. Keistei is said to have filed a bill for $l6O for running the restaurant for 16 days, making his total claim $460, or $55 more than the Snow sale was for. As James A. got the $405, and the stock is attached for other debts which it is now thought will amount to S4OO or SSOO. This includes about everyone Keister did business with, both in and away from Rensselaer, some of his neighbors—the saloonists—coining in for good bumpings, stated to be “borrowed money.”
