More Gold Pots For A. F. Knotts.
ArmanasF. Knotts, ex mayor of Hammond, and who has been reported to have made $105,000 in commissions for land purchases for the steel trust, has returned to that city from a several days’ business trip to Washington and New York, and carries with him a contract to superintend the building of the steel company’s new town of Garey on the south shore of Lake Michigan. In addition to being a lawyer and financier, Mr. Knotts is a civil engineer, and his plans for the new steel town will make it one of the model modern cities, the light, water and sewer system being planned for a city of 50,000 population. His salary is said to be SIO,OOO per year, and to include opportunities for side line speculation, which the busy Armanas will doubtless improve upon.
