PLAYED RINGS AROUND HAMMOND.
Oar high school girls’ basket bal team had no difficulty in disposing of Hammond Friday night, fairly carrying the damsels of that place off their feet as they passed up and down the hall between the baskets. The final score was 23 to 4 in Rensselaer’s favor, Hammond having made 4 points, the first half of play, all resalting from fouls assessed against Rensselaer and none from field. Our girls were some larger than the contestants for Hammond and showed superior skill, each member of the team distinguishing herself b) fast, Bnappy and intelligent play ing. The baskets were different from the ones the Rensselaer team was accustomed to in pi-aetice, and had our team been used to them it is probable they would have run 50 points. The Hammond boys’ high school team was defeated in the same hall by a team from W heaton, HI. Hammond will play a return game here Friday night Feb. 16. A game is expected later with Cov ington. ,
