ESTATE IS TIED UP BY STORK. Great Grnntl-Clilldren Keep Arriving to Claim Share in L^sracy. The Circuit Court in Lebanon has relieved John T. Lindley, executor of the will of William H. Mills, of a hovel plight. Twenty years ago Mills died leaving among, other bequests - $20.000 to his two grandchildren, and the same amount to his great-grandchildren, in the words of the will, “already in being and about to be born.” Twenty-two of the latter have been born thus far to the grandchildren and the end is not yet hr sigbtrAll other legacies have long since been settled, but this continued to. puzzle the executor until he finally appealed to the Circuit Court to decide how he should prorate the bequest to the great-grand--children. Judge Artrnan ordered that “lio distribution of funds be made until such time as all prospect of future children being born to their parents be at an end.” GAS EXPLOSION IS FATAL,. One Killed and Four Hurt WJien Acetylene Plant Blow** Up. • Mrs. John W, Cook. .is .dead, .and four persons are injured tvs the result of an explosion of acetylene gas at the Cook home, three miles east of Richmond, The injured are the three children of Mrs. Cook. Frank, aged 17; Bessie, aged 14; Carl, aged 8. and Mrs. Della Burgoyne of New Paris. Ohio, a guest. The explosion occurred soon after Frank Cook went into the basement to investigate some trouble with the plant. The house was almost completely wrecked and Mrs. Cook was pinioned under a hot stove. She died of her injuries. Mrs. Burgoyne and the two younger children were - blown through a window and— Frank. Cook escaped with minor injuries. The property loss is $5.1)901 .NEW.. The long secrecy of the promoters of the Chicago, Indianapolis and Evansville Railroad Company was broken the other day by John B. Carter, president of the Carter Construction Company, and the plan for a railroad traversing the length of Indiana and topping rich coal, stone and oil fields is ters contemplate a main line from Chicago to Evansville, touching Indianapolis, with branches from Crown Point to Tolleston. from Logansport to Squ'th Bend and from Booneville to Owensboro, Ky. The principal terminal of the road will be at Tolleston, where a $40.000,000 plant is to be erected by the United States Steel Corporation.
ACCUSED OF BEDFORD MURDER. Man Who Eloped with Indianapolis Woman Arrested in Colorado. Betrayed by the husband of the woman \vith whom he fled from Indianapolis, William Barnes was arrested at the Rio Grande shops at Burnham. Colo., and accused of being implicated in the mysterious murder of Sarah Schaefer, the Bedford school teacher, about a year and a half ago. William Annadel, whosewife three months ago ran aj>vay from Indianapolis with Barnes, is said to have furnished the information which caused the arrest. Mrs. Aunadel-Barnes says it is a case of spitework and that Barnes can establish an alibi, but the prisoner will not say where he was the night the crime was committed. TWO LAWYERS FOUND GUILTY. Laporte Mayor and South Bend Attorney Convicted. The jury in the disbarment proceedings against Mayor Lemuel Harrow of Laporte. Attorney John W. Talbot of South Bend nnd Herman W. Worden, city attorney of Laporte, returned a verdict in Goshen, finding Harrow and Talbot guilty of unprofessional conduct, and acquitting Worden. The defendants were eh urged with inducing Mrs. Rose Duck of South Bend to give perjured testimony aud impersonate a clerk in a dry goods store, thus securing the acquittal Of Mrs. Stella Lutn of Michigan City on a charge of larceny.
Child Kills HeriHf with Revolver. The daughter qf William Jordan, aged !) years, shot herself at her father’s home uear'Hainlet. She found a revolver in a drawer and iu looking at it witli childish curiosity exploded it, receiving the shot in her left side just below the ribs. She is in a dying condition.
