Poor Show For the I.I. & M. Railroad.
Judging from reports from Michigan City, the prospects for the new east and west railroad through Renifeelaer are not very promising. The Michigan City papers say that a surveying party has just started out to survey a line for the road to that city. It being the Illinois, lowa & Minnesota R. R., the outer belt line, which has already been several times mentioned in these j columns, and which has a line now completed to Momence. If this road is to strike Michigan City, and that place has been persistently mentioned as its probable terminus, it is difficult to believe that it will ever swing far enough south -to stride Rensselaer, or Morocco either, desirable as its acquisition would be to our town. Its logical route from Momence to Michigan City would be to keep on the north side of the Kankakee river all the way and to pass through Valparaiso. And that is the route the Michigan City and Valparaiso papers are asserting it is to follow.
