Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 38, Number 38, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 26 January 1906 — Emperor William's Card. [ARTICLE]
Emperor William's Card.
The memorial card the Kaiser sent to the relatives of soldiers who have fallen in German Southwest Africa is decorated with a representation of St. George, bearing in his left hand a laurel wreath resting on flags, drums and the accoutrements and helmet of a cuirassier, and is inscribed: “In memory of ——. He led for emperor aud empire. Honor to his memory.” Underneath a space for a photograph ate the words: “Sketched by his majesty the emperor and King William II.”
