Death of an Early Settler.
Henry Welsh, one of Jasper County’s earliest and best kuow-n residents, died last Tuesday, at-his home in Remington, after a sickness of about weeks duration. His age was 7 6 years and nearly six months; and kehad’been a resident of Jasper County since 1840. He lived iu Jordan township until 1894 w hen he moved to Remington. He was married in 1852 to Sarah Ann Baker, with whom he j lived for the long period of over 53 years. She survives him as doakp nine of the ten children born to' them; namely, Frank, Benjamin, Mrs. J. R. Goodrich, of Ukiah, Cal. Agnes, Louis, Mrs. James Bnllis, Ella, of Anacortes, Wash., Gertrude, of Marion, Ind,, and Jesse, of Chicago. James Welsh, of south of Rensselaer is a brother. His funeral was held Thursday, at Remington M. E. church, by Rev. j. L. Brady, of Rensselaer, assisted by Rev. C. W. Postill, of Remington. Interment was made iu Remington cemetery.
