To Thoroughly Investigate.
A dispatch from Indianapolis says: * Gov. Hanly today named J. W. Noel, a prominent Indianapolis attorney George W. Durborow and State Auditor Warren Bigler as the members of a commission to commence at once a thorough and searching investigation of the state auditor’s office during Sherrick’s entire incumbency, from January, 1903, to Sept. 14, this year. Noel and Durborow each receive $25 daily. Further than this the governor will say nothing. It is confidentially believed that Bigler has found large errors that may put the former figures of the shortage in the background. If not this, it can hardly be surmised why the governor should take this unusual step. If possible, the investigation will be completed before Sherrick’s trial begins which was set for Nov. 27th.
