Monon Shop Additions.
If the present plans of the managements of the Monon railroad are carried out, extensive additions will be made to the shops in Lafayette next spring, it has been decided to increase the output of seven locomotives overhauled and reconstructed each month, to ten a month, and possibly more. To accomplish this it will be neo ssary to build a new machine shop. Other departments will be much enlarged. At present five hundred men are employed at the shops and this force is not large enough to do the work absolutely required the rollingstock in conditiou for service. Since newly engaged employes for train service have been obliged'to serve as fireman before becoming engineers, company is now employing engineers whom it does not [require to serve as firemen’s term.
