The Monon’s Future Developement.

Indianapolis Star: I The railroad official yesterday in speaking of the future of the Mor on , said that if the plans as projected were carried out it would become one of the most important noith and south'lines. The Louisville & Nashville and the Southern Railway Companies own the road jointly and both use it as their Chicago connection, and both lines are anxious to have a direct line into Indianapolis. The man quoted stated that the movement to bnild a road into Indianapolis was simply carrying out the ideas of the powers that control the two properties and own the Monon line. The fact that the Illinois Central is building into this place under the guise of the Indianapolis Southern road has created a feeling with the two lines first named that they must as well have a line into Indianapolis. It will be remem-1 bered that the Illinois Central is building a line into Birmingham to compete with these loads, and naturally these two roads will retaliate by building into Indianapolis and probably extend the line farther north, skipping coal into Michigan where it will get lake connections. Judge Field states that within a year the Monon will have the line into Indianapolis from the Southwest.
