A Newton County Bad Man

Thursday night a big fellow smelling loudly of booze, walked into J. J. Brenner’s residence, on south Division street, threw off his overcoat, and calmly announced that the place loojced good to him and that he would stay all night. Mr. Brenner argued the point, but the stranger #as not open to conviction, so he put him out. He came back again, and was put out again, and then started away. In the mean time Officer v icJs- had been called by telephone, and he unet the fellow about the corner of Washington and Weston streets. He denied being the man, but Christie took him back to Brenner’s where he was identified. He was put in jail and later in the evening plead guilty to drunkenness, before Squire Irwin arid was fined SI.OO and costs, or $10.56 in all. Thomas Davis, of Brook paid the fine and he was released. He gave his name as John Vincent, and his home at Brook, and intimated that he was High Chief Bad Man, of Newton county. His right front name is said to be Truman. He is thought to have been looking for some joint in the east part of town, and missed it a few blocks.
