Great Slaughter of Cattle.

Hobbs, a sn ail station just east ofTipton, on the Lake Erie & Western,'resembled a slaughter pen Monday night. A drove of eighty cattle had been brought to the sta tion to be fed this winter. They got away and ran down the track in two droves. When the engineer of a passenger train saw them he put on all the steam he had and ploughed through both bunches. The trucks were knocked from under the engine but it did not turn over or leave the track. Forty one cattle were killed or injured. It was the greatest slaughter of cattle by a single train that has ever been reported, and it is almost miraculous that the train was not wrecked
