“The Martindale Picnic.”

The members of Rensselaer Post No. 84, aind Milroy Circle *N6. 3 : and their friends held—their-4th-annual picnic at the farm reside pee of Mr. John Mkrtiudale on last Saturday ' (Sftpte.lSth.J? This last one was- #ie biggest pud most successfulVof all, there'being more than 150 present. The Ladies took their bijyskfits ofyjpojL Jbing to eat and Mr. Martindale and his good wife and (lid the rest. Melons; fruits, ice croam and cigars for the “old boys” 1 being Ipountifully supplied and- kept ou jtap. _Just after dihper the rain began and put an end to the out ctyor formal exercises,- speech making etc. But the host's big house held the big crowd? and with visiting music etc. everybody kept on having--a jolly good titpe, unttkthe middle of the afternooh, the rain Itt-up then oil' for theif homes.

A younger .bmther. ..of “our” John, Mr. E. J. Martindale of Warren county with hts w’ife and three’children came up in their autohjobile, arriving in good time for dinner. They 1 made fast time time on the trip 2J hours from Oxford in southern part of Benton Co. to Rensselaer. Capt. B. R. Faris ex-county Commissioner prevented from coming on account of the feeble condition of his aged father, sent a cordial letter of greeting and regrets which was read to the meeting. *
