STATE AUDITOR SHERRICK.

HanlOy/ ‘ ‘ ‘ One of the greatest sensations in the official history of Indiana for years, occpred Thursday aftern<x»n,r when Hanly ''heclWd'the' office of state auditor vacant, and appointed TSJarren Bigler, of bash, to fill the place. , n , This followed repeated demands on Auditor David E. Sherrick, for his resignation- Soon after the removal Mr. Sherrick handed in his resignation, which was accepted. , ' Sherrick’s shortage is $145,197. To off set this he turns over /hotep and stocks aggregating on their face, $152,833, but Gov. Hanly says only about $37,000 can be realized on them. Sherrick has been lending the state’s money to every Tom, Dick and Harry, and investing it in all kinds of wild-pat schemes. His official bond is SIOO,000, i© that the state is not likely to lose very much. —— Sherrick was placed under arrest early last Friday morning, and expected to give bail later in the day.
