Stone Road Progress.
Along with the Iroquois diteft, the most important business before the County Commisssioners at their session this week, was acting on the petitions for the big system of 'tone roads in Rensselaer andL Marion township; and on tbe single joint roatl, in Marion, lordan and Carpenter townships^ For the Rensselaer and Marion system, H. L. Gamble, of Rensselaer, was appointed engineer, and. David D. Gleason, of Keener, and John H. Tilton, of Wheatfield, as viewers. For the Jordan, etc., road, Lewis 8. Alter of Carpenter, was appointed engineer and Michael Defehantjr >f Wheatfield tp, and T. F. Maloney, of Kankakee tp. were appointed viewers. Both parties are to begin work on Aug. 18th and finish in time to report at the September session, if they can. Which is scarcely possible in the Rensselaer and Marion system. The Commiisioners let the contract for a padded cell at the jail to the Badger Furniture Company of Indianapolis at 8363, which was the lowest bid received. They are required to have the jotĀ» finished in 60 days."
