About Indiana High Schools.

There are 215 commissioned high schools in the State of Indiana according to the last report issued from the office of Fassett A. Cotton superintendent of the department of Public Instruction in Indiana. Since the issuance of the report a year ago several new high schools have been commissioned by this department, placing Indiana near the head of the list in the United States, considering her population. In every county in the State there is at least one commissioned high school and in many there are more than five. The bulletin explains a commissioned high school as one where the teaching is of a high standard, where at least thirty two mouths constitute the four years’ course: where the whole time of at least two teachers is employed, and each must be equipped with the latest libraries, and some sort of laboratory tci rntific equipment.
