D, M Johnson, of this plaoe, is the oldest circuit rider in Newton OQonty. He preaohed the gospel in this county when not more than fifty families lived within its borders. He fnquenily traveled on horseback from Morocco to Logansport. a distance cf fifty miles, to fill an appointment, °for wbioh he would sometimes reoeive a dollar or two, but more often nothing.
