Curtis Creek Ditch Completed.

The Kent ?jint ditch, common ly ’ known as the Curtis Creek ditch, was completed last Saturday to its outlet in the Iroquois River some 5 miles below Rensselaer. The ditch is 13j miles long, and is partly in Jasper and partly in Newton counties; and it will drain and render very valuable a large scope of land heretofore of comparatively little value. Work began on the ditch in October 1903, but has been suspended during the winters. Cojnsiderable delay and additional expense were caused by the sandy nature of considerate of the land through which it passed. The ditch in its geneial course was a’ong the bed of Curtis Creek but. it straightened out most <f the kinks in that tortuous stream. The contractors. C. H. Sternberg & Co. of Winamic, have not begun taking down tbe dredge yet, and may not for some weeks yet as i*s hext scene of labor is not yet decided upon.
