Tne new carnett arch culvert on Grace street near J. H. Perkins’ place was accepted and the contractor was allowed S6O or the city’s half of the cost. The committee reported that it had authorized Supt Chamberlain to purchase and install f jut lightning arrestors. Lights are ordered installed in Jasper Kenton’s residence. The rate far water for street sprink’ing was reduced from $75 to SSO per year. C* Kellner and others asked that the sewer on Franklin and Plum street be taken up and repaired. The warden also used some vigorous language regarding Ralph Fendig’s old building, next to the proposed new business buildings and referred to the owner’s intention to rebui'd the same. Mr, Ftndig explained that he intended to put an iron roof on the building and also to cover the rear end with iron, which statement was evidently satisfactory, as no action was taken. Another resolution was unanimously adopted intended to extend the scope of the committee whieb is selecting streets and roads for the proposed improvement. Division, Main, College, Front, and Grace streets were specially inc’uding these being streets heretofore ruled out b - cause of previous improvement. The fire in urance on the city hall and fire apparatus was ordered renewed in Ray D. Thompson’s

agenoy. A oommunioation was received from Miss Nell McCarthy complaining of certain alleged action of Lyman Zea, the night police. According to this Lyman etopped two little boys, Worth McCarthy and Bruoe Porter, while they were hauling hay along the walks in a hand cart, and reprimanded them severely and .roughly hook the McCarthy boy. It was stated that he had thus interfered with the McCarthy boy three times, and once had taken a oane to him The oommumioation asserted that tha mothers iri the vioinity were getting into a panic about it and wanted something done. Lyman denied he had touched the boy, or had done any more than to tell him it was too large a cart to nafigate the side walks with. No action was taken in the fatter. The metier of drawing up a contract with Ljman Zea, es night policeman was referred to the city attorney.
