Divorces Are Still in Demand .

Although the marriage lioense application law seems to have soared all the prospective marrying people dean off their perohes and away out into the big woods, the demand for divorces shows no perceptible sign of diminution. The latest of these comes from Remington, long the storm center of matrimonial matters, both pro and con. The plaintiff .signs her name as “Sijbrigje Balanus,” and she is understood to be a Hollander by nationality. Her attorneys translate her name as Sebeje Balens,[and state that she wants a divorce from Cornelius Balens.

They were married Feb. 9, 1903, and went to housekeeping at Lafayette. His oonduot is said to have been abusive, inconsiderate, brutal and inhuman, all at once, and that by the 14th of Maroh, or less than five weeks after their marriage had become so unendurable that she left him, and they have never lived together sinoe. She also oharged total failure to provide for her support, and says that she herself furnished their household goods. She wants a divorce and the restoration of her name by a former marriage, Sijbrigje Pothuisje.
