Majors Can’t Remove Officers .
An unofficial opinion has been given out at the Attorney General’s office to the effect that the mayors of the cities of the fifth class have not the power to remove present officers who have been elected by the people even though under the new cities and towns law it is provided that such offioers are to be appointed by the mayors. The view taken is that such powers of appointment do not take effect until present terms have expired in the offices affected,
