Effect of Cold on Fruit.
Reports arriving at the office of Joseph H. Stubbs, chief of the bureau of statistics, were the basis of a statement from that offioe Fridav regarding the effeot to the reoent cold upon the fruit. According to the statement, the oherries and plums, because of the lack of protection in the blcsicm, have suffered more than other fruits; the budded peaohes have suffered severely, and small fruit in low plaoes was affected to a considerable extent.
