Township Trustees as Grafters.

A Warsaw firm of lawyers are stirring up n big senation in Wells county, and if they make good their aeserations there will be sensations in p great many counties of the state This law firm has brought suit against the trustee of Chester township for the recovery of money alleged to have been spent for fraudulent supplies, In plain English, the lawyers assert that the trustee was guilty of taking vonohera for gx>ds he never reoeived, and the inference is that he shoved down the m ney thus charged to the township. The Warsaw law firm worked a young man into a supply house at Indianapolis and through him, they aver, they were enabled to learn the names of every trustee in tbe state who was guilty of grafting. The firm makes the starting assertion that there were 500 grafters of the 1016 township trustees who retired from offioe on the Ist day of January 1905. The plain of operation is to go to the township advisory boards and oontract with them to recover the money unlawfully spent, They ask one third of what they recover fer their services and tne balance goes to the township, That tbe - e has grafters in the offioe of township trustees in this state in the past has beeu proven, but it does not yeem possible that half of the men who retired at the first of the year could be so classed nor do we believe they will be.
