Lawyer Smith Nearly Drowned.

Ralph N. Smith, ai attorxer of Laporte, while hunting dnoks at the Kankakee in a boat Thursday, rose and fired. The reooil of the gun knocked him over and be sank into six feet of water As he sank in the muok he coaid not rise and Attorney Fred R. Liddell, who was in another boat, prodded an oar down to Smith, whioh the latter grasped. Smith was dragged to the eurfaoe, and said he would “take an exoeption.”
