Status of The McCoy Cases
John B. Peterson, of Crown Point, has notified Judge Hanley that he does not want to aot as assistant proseou'iug attorney in trying the MoOoy cases, sent to Ham nond on change of venae He is dissatisfied because of the difficulty in getting the cases brought to trial, and also believes they will involve more work than he can afford to give for tie money there is in it. It is expected that these oases will receive some attention, however at tLie May term of the Superior Court at Hammond to the ex eat of a guing the sufficiency of the indictments. Regarding the other MoCoy cases sent to Wmte county, tnere is more prospect of their being brought to trial Hanley has appointed E. B. Sellers to assist in the prosecution, and it is hoped the cases will be tried at ooming April term of ihe White oirouit court, probably sometime in May.
