Too Much Money Spent on High Schools.
Elkhart Review: We direct attention to part of an editoral from the Indianapolis News, relating to costly luxury of the high school of that city. What is true of the high schools of that city is limited'y true of all, The relative oust is too high. Thp benefils are too limited, not beceuse the opportunities are not offered, but because they are not made use of. The News adds in its discussions of the question: '•There is a theory that the people generally demand highly developed high schools. We do not believe it. Many of them ere ign< rant of what has been and is going on, and if they are indifferent their indifference is that of ignorance. The man who does not care, or is not able to have bis ohildran complete the high school course, or even to enter upon it can hardly think it fair to tax him and the thousands of others in like caees in order that nine p>er cent, of the children may have this higher education. And it is not fair. There is no justice in it, It is time that the ninety-one pier cent, demand more oouideration ir. quality atd value of the teaching which is offered them in the common sobcols.
