Hank Taber Acquitted of Perjury.
Henry L Taber, the Roae Lawn saloonkeeper be;ter known as Hank Taber hae just had the fight of his life, over at Monticello It seems that come time ago he was tried at Kentland for selling liquor on Sunday, Brp& 13 1903 which was on Sunday. He was tried for selling liquor on Sunday and at the tiral swore be was not in Rose Lawn that day. He was then indicited for perjury a.d case sent to M nticello, on chat go of venue. Tbe trial took place this week and lasted 3f days. There seems to have bean plenty of evi. deuce that H«nk was "there or thereabouts” on the day he swore he whs inCaicagi but he swore positively he tod no liquor on that dsy, and the defense took the ground that he was simp'y mistaken in his r-colLcdon when he ■swcra he was in Chicago. And the jury seems to have taken that view for he was acquitted, W. H. Parkison was one of the attorneys for the defense and there were quite a number of witnesses Lorn here also. It is understood that this and his f ormer trials will comp'etely clean Hank out financially. He haa a very excellent family and for their sake he premised his attorneys that hs would quit the saloon business and stay quit.
