Many traveling men and ethers from Chicago have been working the Monon Railway Co. for a number of years until the practice has. been abused says the Hammond News, It is their custom now to ride out from Chicago on a commutation ticket and further south on <* mileage book. This was practicable when the trains stopped long enough for the travelers to have the mileage book signed at Hammond. Now, however the trainmen register iat South Hammond. and there is no time for the passengers to get off and have their books signed.
