Rensselaer Thirteen Ham[?]ond Five.
One of the best and closest games of the seasen took place last night when our girls ran up against their formidable Hammond opponents. However, ou girls still held up their reputation, for the score was 13 to 5 in cur favor. It was probably the most exciting game that has been played here, and our girls showed their best work. The Hammond team is especially noted for their team work, and as yet, Rensselaer has been the first to defeat them The girls in both teams were about the same size and about equally quick. Hammond is accustomed to play slowly in the the first half and to ginger up in the last, but our girls were ready for them. The first half ended, With a score of 7 to 0 in our favor. Our scores were made by Madge Beam, and Josie Porter. The forwards, MissJ.Beam and Miss Porter played even better than usual and the centers, Miss Riddle, and Miss lines in first half, Miss Meyer in the second seemed to be everywhere Miss Miller and Miss Drake, the guards, while their positions are not so noticable played remarkably well. All of the members of the Hammond team are splendid players, Miss Faulker, a forward is fine, and Miss Deming and Miss Livingston wereeepecially noted by the spectators as being unusually active andsure. Their was a good deal of cheering done by the spectators, but they were kindly about it. It was a game that no one should have missed. The line up is as follows: Rensselaer, Hammond GUARDS Nellie Drake May Livingstone, Josie Miller Marion Deming, FORWARDS Josie Porter Julia Wall, Madge Beam Annalbach CENTERS Li zzie Riddle Mabie Faulker loma Imee Elsie Masepohl Thena Moyer SUBS Glare Jesson Laura Mather Grace Norris Cora Dinwiddie Mr. Wallace Referee.
