About Mortgage Exemption.

Mortgage exemptions must be filed in March or April, and the earlier the better. Heretofore many errors have occurred in the filling out of exemption blanks by justices of the peace and others, who did not have the records at hand. Sometimes they are signed by the husband when the land is in the wife’s name, and other defects are found too late to correct and which invalidate the exemption. To insure against such errors it is best to have the exemption blanks filled at the Auditor’s office, where the records are at hand, and thus make sure that your ememption emempts.
