Mrs. McCarter’s Big Work.

Mm. Margaret Hill MoCarter, of Topeka, Kane., and former prinoip al of the Rensselaer high school, who has already published several works of aok'owlodged literary merit, is‘now engaged upon a much larger work. It is a history of Kansas, and is to be published in two large volumes. The first * volume is the general his'ory and is beingjWritteu by Mrs McCarter The second volume will deal with the separate counties, aud have many authors. The Topeka Herald, in announcing the work, publishes letters very highly commending Mrs. MoCarter’s literary abilities and special fituess for this work from E. W. Hoob, governor of the stale W. A. Johnson, chief justice, J. A. Tronaman, former lieutenant governor, T. A. McNeal, editor of Topeka Mail and several “other leading oitizens oj! Kansas. None of these recommendations, how T ever are more earnest and complimentary than one from the i famous author, Rev. C. M. Bheldon, author of “In His Steps.” The history is to be published by the Lemon Publiohing Company, of Linooln, Neb., with the 00-operßtiou of the Topeka Daily Record.
