A very Narrow Escape

Delphi Journal George Shiglty. >-had a narrow escape from death Tuesday evening about five o’clook, when returning to his home there miles east of this city. Just as he was driving ecross the railroad crossing of the Monon on the Delhpi and Flora gravel road, his horse took fright at an approching passenger traiD, and started down the traok in front of the engine at full speed. ,» * When Mr. Shigley realized his danger he used the whip freely thinking that he ceuld reach some place to pull off of the track and escape death. The horse did not run far until the driver suooeeded in pulling him out of the traok, and the horse jumped into a snow drift, leaving him help Vs. The buggy did not entirely clear the track and the engine smashed into the rear wheels. Mr. Sbigley was thrown out cf the baggy into a snow drift and escaped uninjured. The only dam-ga was dote to the buggy, wbioh received a smashed wheel. It wbS a miracu'ons escape.
