The city attorney reported on the legal points on the petition of Benj. Harris and others fer narrowing some parts of Merritt street and east and west street, north of the railroad. This is 80 feet wide in some parts and 60 in others, and the petitioners want it 60 allthe way, The attorney’s report shows an elaborate procedure is needed including a map filed by tbe petitioners and all expenses paid by them. AUo the matter must be referred to ibe city commissioners, and then be acted on by the Counoil. It was continued. Thirteen firemen were reported present at the fire of Feb, sth and eaoh was allowed $2.50. J. L Biokneli, owner of the pool room whose hot ashes started the fire, was allowed sls rebate on his pool-table lioense. The pumps at the plant were in snred for SSOO each, in B. F, Ferguson and O. G. Spitler’s agenoies In oonformity with a resolution from the fire oompany, John Rush treasurer of the company, was relieved from responsibility for money belonging to the oompany lost in MoCoy’s bank, and the entire oompany will shoulder the loss. The fire company asks for a hose wagon instead of a cart, for Hose Co. No. oae, the wagon to carry 000 feet of hose, ladders and other necessary appliances and to require a horse to draw it. Referred to fir 3 ohief and Committee. Mel Abbott and C. E. Morlan Were accepted as members of the fire oompany in fall standing. Some 31 olaims were considered and allowed.
