Not Like the Story Books.

It is unfortunate that romances in’* real life can’t always have the agreeable climaxes that are credited to them in the story books. Here is t ,e case of the Pennsylvania man, for nstance, who eloped with a farme. ’s daughter five years ago, and returned to the old home with his wife one day last week, intending to surprise the lonely old father. The surprise was not of the character that the young couple anticipated. Instead of falling on their necks the father rushed for his revolver and hustled the startled pair through the barnyard and around the apple orchard. On the way the youog man snatched up an ax from the shelter of the woodpile and dealt the furious father a quieting blow. And now there Is no doubt that before any further attempt at reconciliation is made, the preliminary overtures will have to come from the stern parent.
