A Result of Poor Wages.

Prof. George F. James, of the Minnesota University, told the St. Paul Federation of Qrade Teachers at their recent meeting that more than 100,000 teachers would retire from the profession this year because their salaries do not afford them a reasonably fair living. He said that a manual laborer could earn more wages and work every day In the year, whereas school boards expected tea :hers to live on a pittance which cane for only nine months in the yei.r. Without a doubt if the stand arc of education is to be kept up in thia country there must be greatei infucements to secure competent per sons to teach.
