(For an up -o-date woman.) Here lies her heat, on the lap of earth, For the first time she rests since the hour of her birth. Her forbears for ages were folk known to lame, And thus in her day she was “Daughv ter” and "Dame." She belonged to twelve clubs,, and read- rforace at sight, And ser ed on the school-board with haughty delight At the meetings of mothers she always appealed » To tell them how little ones all should bo reared. She golfed and she kodaked and automo filled. ~7“ And wb- never it ; eased her she turned in and wueeled. The luncheons and teas and functions ga’ore Whicli kept all bor smiles made her husband sore. When she’d now ere to to, as she found one day. She fell to the floor and died whera she lay. And now lies her head on the lap of earth.
