It now looks like the long smouldering revolution in Russia had at last broken oat. Sunday when vast crowds of people had assembled together at St. Petersburg to p-rsonaL-ly petition the Czar for a redress of th»ir gieivanoes, they were attack by soldiers and killed and wounded by thonsands. The number of dlain being estimated at 2,000 and wounded at 5,000, It is now believed that this wholesale butchery of anarmed people will oause a gensral rising all over Rus-ia and that government of un. speakable oppression and oorrnption will at last be swept away and destroyed.
