DONAHUE JAILED AT CROWN POINT

Ed. Donahue, sullen and handcuffed, was brought to Hammond this afternoon says Wednesday’s Hammond News, under heavy guard. | With him were Chief Cox Sheriff Daugherty and Under Sheriff Pearl of Berrien county. At 4:20 Donahue was taken to Crown Point, where he will be put in the county jail. The alleged murderer gave bis captors no further trouble after arrested, but he is beaten up around the head in a desperate fight he had when Mr. Pearl made him prisoner. He was afraid to come back to Hammond b c cause he feared that he would be lynched. He claims to be innocent of the murder of Northrup, and says that all be wants is a fair show. The police leadquarters were crowded this afternoon, with onriousity seekers o look at.tbe fellow. Donahue is a savage looking prisoner and ooks the part he is accused of ilaying. The authorities are confident that Donahue will be banged. His trial will take plaos next February.
