Important Educational Changes Proposed
If present plans culminate, there will be introduced five different bills designed to improve the school system, and to better the teachers, There will be one to increase the state revenue for general school purposes The amount in the past has been found insufficient. Incidental to this, request will be made for a supplementary fund to ho'd the schools in some of the poorer counties where the tax levy does not provide enough funda for school purpose, A third bill will provide for the cumpulsory abolition of small rural schools, where the attendance does not really justify continuance. The fuurth measure will provide for an extension of the minimum school term from six to months. The last bill is designed to improve the system ■od elevate the sohools. It will define a minimum standing of eligibi'ty. This will barincompatent teachers from the profession.
