An Egg Like a Banana.

Captain Petterson, of the fruit steamer Beacon, told a Philadelphia reporter that, jflst before leaving Jamaica on his last trip, he was given a hen, which he prized for the sake of the giver. The bird’s wings were clipped and it was allowed to go all about the deck. Its food, on the way up from the West Indies, was bananas, and the voracious captain says that after a while the hen laid an egg of the shape and color of a ripe banana. He admits that it waa like a small banana only. >
