County Commissioners’ Convention.
A generous number |of connty commissioners met in state convention at Indianapolis this week. Offioers were ele'ted, matters of interest to oonuty commissioners discussed and resolutions adopted. There was much said of the value of voting maobiuer. John McGregor of Marion County, who was eleoted president of the State organization, made a strong plea for the convention adc pted a resolution favoring them. ' ‘McGregor presented eome Marion Connty statistics that were some wbat comprehensive. He said that out of 57 538 votes cast in Marion C maty there takes 9537 voters whs made mistikss cf some sort in voting their State and County balloip. Of these 1,682 asked for new ballots. There waro 1,411 protested ballots, 3.744 ballots were thrown ont because they were mutilated, 2,670 were voted blank.
T._e Commissioners passed a resolution asking the Legislature to fix the salaries of Cimmissioners by counties instead us according to population. The Legislature will alto be asked to raise the purchasing power of Commissioners from SIOO to S3OO.
