Escaped Convict Is Captured.

Everett Van Auken, of Frankton. who eeonp d from the Michigan City prison last week by means of an improvised rope ladder, was captured Saturday at Marion. Van Auken has a sweetheart living at Marion, and it is believed he haa been there for several days. He was to have reoeived funds by telegraph at the looal telegraph office. Polioe were on guard at the telegraph office and in the vicinity all day, awaiting hia arrival. About 12 m fc a telephone message wes reoeived at the telegraph office, instructing a message to brtn< the money to a point b 1 mg the river, east of the city. Two officers accompanied the messenger and found VanAuken walking on the bank of the Btrcam. With out any effort they captured the man, who made no effort to issiat them. VanAuken was taken back to the penitentiary at Michigan Uity Saturday night, to serve the r* mainder of hia term.
