Fighting The Weather Prophet Fakers
The newspapers of this state are receiving a pamphlet issued by W T. Blythe, second direetor of the Indiana Weather Bareau whioh protests against the work of so called weather prophets, who pro* fees to be able to foretell the weather a month or perhaps a year in advance. This pamphlet is in accordance with a plan that was outlined at the national meeting of section directors of the Weather Bureau that the public may be warned against the predictions of the “long rage” prophets.
The articles sets forth that these weather foroast are published in many rural papers, and tbat generally they are of a most indefiuate nature, and when not they are complete failures, Prof. Cleveland Abbe, dean of the soientifio corps of the United State weather service is quoted as saying that '‘the time must come when a general law shall forbid the publication of weather predictions and storm warnings, especially those of 4 sensational character, by any others than properly lioeased persons.” Tee Republican, as our readers well know, has always opposed and exposed these long range weather prophet frauds, and has never published their worthless predictions.
