WHO ARE THE CHAMPIONS?

Rensselaer High School Seems tm Have The Best Claims. Regarding whioh high school 1 foot ball team has the brst claim for the season's chain f ionsbip, either for Nortbw«:ern Indiana, are or so far can be ascertained, the whole of the state, it may bs stated that Rensselaer** claims are better than any >et figured out. Every team which ham claimed the championship of Northwestern Indiana, or of thm whole state, has either beea beaten by Rensselaer, or else has been beaten by some team whioh Rensselaer has in turn beaten, whioh amounts to the same tbiDg in foot ball mathematics. During the season Rensselaer played 5 or 6 bard games, while most high schools played only two or three. We soored 16T points ;to 10 for our upponent*,. sad were never defeated nos event ied during the season. The following is the season's* record. 1 JKEB.

Hammond high school 0 69/ Brook Atheletios 0 0; Lafayette high school 0 841 What Las. high school 0 lit. N. W. Mil. Acad. 5 18; Crown Point h. s. 5 ft Montioello high sobool 6 23 Total 10 167 Crown Point olaimed the Northwest Indiana championship, bat we defeated her. Goshen claimed for the whole state, but sbe wa» defeated by both Crown Point and Lafayatte, botb of which fell before Reaaseketfc puissant arms. Crawfordsville olaimud tbe Central Indiana championship, bnt wo skinning Orawfoidsviile by proxy when wobeat Montioello, for Montioello had previously beaten Crawfordsvitle. Wabash a'so olaimed Central Indiana, bnt aw also beat Wabash by proxy onoe removed. That is we beat (Jrewn Point, Crown Poiot beat Goshen„ and Goshen beat Wabasb. Therefore there is no known* claimant for pny of these season’• onampionsbips, which we have not beaten, directly or indirectly. Henoe onr claims to tbe championship are well founded. A large part of tbe credit for our boj s’ remarkable playing wa» due to |tbe good management of Manager Brooks and of tbe good oosohing of Mills and Porter. W» have good prospects for next year losing only four men. Gay Daniels was elected oaptain for next year.
